Brentford Host Tottenham as Roberto De Zerbi Begins First Full Season

Brentford's Gtech Community Stadium hosts Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, August 22 (5:30pm kick-off), marking Roberto De Zerbi's first match in charge of a full Tottenham campaign.

Team News

Brentford, managed by Keith Andrews, will be without Antoni Milambo and Sepp van den Berg, with Igor Thiago, Kevin Schade and Dango Ouattara leading their attacking line. Tottenham's injury list is more extensive: Xavi Simons, Wilson Odobert, Dejan Kulusevski and Cristian Romero are all out, with James Maddison and Mateus Fernandes also sidelined, and further doubts over Mohammed Kudus, Micky van de Ven, Destiny Udogie and Dominic Solanke. Richarlison and Joao Palhinha are expected to be central to Tottenham's side.

Context

De Zerbi joined Tottenham during last season's relegation battle and guided the club to safety, with Spurs avoiding the drop on the final day. Brentford finished ninth last season, narrowly missing out on European qualification.
